Move to the beat of London 2012 at the Eco-Schools Show
19 June 2012
To celebrate their successful London 2012 inspire project “Sport into Schools” Wastebuster is bringing some of the magic and excitement of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games to this year’s Eco-Schools Show in Sheffield.
On 26 June pupils and teachers will head to the Activity Zone to get creative making their own Olympic torches from recycled materials.
They’ll then take part in a giant parade led by special guests Team GB basketball player Jamell Anderson, 4 x 400m relay and 400m runner Donna Fraser and world football freestyle world record holder Dan Magness, to the beat of the famous Wastebuster samba band.
Wastebuster and the Pod
Wastebuster is excited to be working with the Pod to explore the many ways schools can tackle energy waste. Together we’re offering schools the opportunity to win exclusive prizes through Wastebuster’s Sport into Schools project.
Sport into Schools is a fantastic way for schools to get free sports equipment – all they need to do is book a collection day for unwanted clothes and shoes in exchange for sports points to use in the Sport into Schools store.
The first 500 schools registered with the Pod that book a Sport into Schools collection will win 10 packs of Wastebuster Top Trumps to help bring waste education to life in the classroom! Twenty lucky schools will also be chosen at random to win taster sports sessions in Archery, Taekwan-Do or Street Dance in a prize draw.
The school that collects the most textiles per pupil by 31 October 2012 will win a visit from members of Team GB and Wastebuster’s very own Busta and Pong!
Schools will also be given access to Wastebuster’s fun and engaging teaching resources for KS1 and KS2 pupils. What’s more, the project can help schools work towards an Eco-Schools award!
